How long does it take to get a dental implant?
From the day of the dental implant surgery to receiving the crown, a dental implant treatment can take as little as 3 months. In some cases involving bone grafting or additional surgeries, it may take longer. During the healing period, a temporary appliance can be fitted to replicate a tooth replacement.
What is a deep cleaning?
Deep teeth cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, are recommended for patients who have not had a cleaning for a long period of time and have tartar buildup under the gum line. Patients who show signs of periodontal (gum) disease may experience bleeding while brushing or flossing, have red puffy gums, bad breath, and/or tooth sensitivity.
Deep cleanings focus on removing harmful bacteria and tartar buildup below the gum line. To ensure patient comfort, deep cleanings are performed with local anesthesia and completed in multiple visits. Follow up cleanings are very important and with good oral hygiene, patients can look forward to healthier teeth and gums.
Does teeth whitening damage your teeth?
No. Whitening is a safe and effective way to remove stains from teeth. While over the counter products can only remove surface stains, professional products and services remove both internal and surface stains. Over-the-counter products focus on physical removal of stains using abrasion, which can damage the enamel. Professional teeth whitening services protect the teeth by chemically removing stains without force. There is no damage or change to the enamel.
Do I need to remove my wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth are most commonly removed to prevent or relieve the infection. Signs of an infection may include swelling and/or a toothache. Due to their positioning in the mouth, if wisdom teeth become impacted or stuck below the gums or jaw bone, it can cause damage to the surrounding teeth.
